Pasadena Wednesday (4-16) group - Vina Vieja Park

This week's playgroup will be at Vina Vieja Park at 3026 E. Orange Grove Boulevard from 9:30-11:30. This park has two new play structures, swings, a pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms.

There is a parking lot and some fenced-in dog run areas at this park as well.

Please note that this is the park UNDER the power cut and on the SOUTH side of Orange Grove. We are NOT going to the small park just west of Vina Vieja park on the north side of Orange Grove.

Chicago City Dads' Playdate

Weather allowing tomorrow's playdate will be held at the hugely popular Wrightwood Playground (at the junction of Ashland & Wrightwood). Map.

- The address of Wrightwood Playground is 2534 N Greenview Ave.
- Street parking is available along neighboring streets.
- The nearest L is Fullerton.

Shedd Aquarium

Dads' Night Out in Sierra Madre

You deserve a break today! Leave the wife and kids at home and come out for drinks, food and fun conversation with other dads. We'll be there from 8:00 until 10 or so.

Wednesday Playgroup (4-23) at Brookside Park@9:30

This Wednesday playgroup will be at Brookside Park playground, which is about 1/4 mile south of the Rose Bowl stadium. The playground is next to parking lot I and near the entrance to the Kidspace Children's Museum. The official address is 360 N. Arroyo Blvd. Since there are myriad ways to get to the Rose Bowl area, I'll let you map your own route.

The playground has two nice play structures, infant swings, picnic tables, restrooms, and a huge, green field to run around on. If it is sunny, you should bring hats and some sunscreen.

Turner Park

Outdoor meet-up for Wednesday at around 11:00 CST at Turner Park in Roselle, located off Roselle Rd. 1 block south of the Elgin O'Hare Expy, (turn left on Devon and you'll see parking lot on the right). They have a cool playground, covered picnic area, pound, pier, walking path ect.

Alternate location will be at the Schaumburg Library in the kids area if it rains.

Chicago Playgroup @ Wicker Park

Chicago Dads Night Out (DNO) - Sunday 27th April

Lads,

It's that time of month again when we start to get a thirst on. Time for the Dads Night Out and where better to air your experiences and thoughts over a lovely pint and some cheap and tasty grub than 'Feed the Beast'. I just love this place and the $2 burger I had there last month was really very good. Here's what you need to get there:

Wednesday (4-30) Playgroup in La Canada

This week we'll venture to Memorial Park in La Canada-Flintridge, which is a 10-minute drive from Pasadena. It is a beautiful park with great mountain views, a green field, restrooms, some shade, swings, and three playsets.

Playgroup takes place from 9:30-11:30 and is very casual. Come and leave whenever works for your schedule.

This week's playgroup will be at Margate Park. The park features a nice 'interactive' playground and restrooms. There is a free parking lot adjecent to the park

Sawyer Point- FRIDAY MAY 2, 2008

This week, we'll be meeting at the playground at Sawyer Point, which is an open park on the Ohio River just east of the Reds ballpark. Parking costs $2.

There are two playgrounds neighboring each other. We'll likely be at the large one under the overpass (in the shade).

Carnival Days in the Park

This Saturday 5/1/08, The Sierra Madre Community Nursery School is holding it's annual carnival at the community park located at 700 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. Bring the kids for pony rides, face painting, games, food, fun and more.

Join the Fun in Wednesday's Playgroup (5-7) in Altadena

After scouting 2 parks this morning, I'm glad I did. They wouldn't do us right. I think the kids will like this weeks playground, we're heading north to Farnsworth Park at 568 E. Mount Curve Ave. just off of Lake St. in Altadena. Their phone number is (626) 798-6335. Looks like this one has all we need. We'll be their from 9:30 to 11:30 or until those little ones give us other orders.

playgroup at Oz Park

Oz park is located at 2021 N. Burling St. in Lincoln Park. More information on the park and its interesting history can be found here. And a map can be found here .

Parking can be a challenge. The Armitage train stop is a short walk away.

Krohn Conservatory- FRIDAY MAY 9, 2008

This week we'll be going to the Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park for their International Butterfly Show going on all this month. The show is $6 for adults, $4 for children, and 3-under get in FREE. $10 gets you a free pin and unlimited access to the show during it's stay-- in case you're interested.

It's supposed to rain on Friday, but from what I understand the show is indoors. I've never been to this place, and I can't say whether it is child-friendly. I'll be happy to change the venue if it seems like a bad idea.

Wednesday Playgroup 95-14) Victory Park in Pasadena
