Chicago Dads provides networking opportunities through activities such as "Dad's Night Out", playgroup activities for children, various other outings, and general camaraderie. We function as an informal volunteer association of independent groups and individuals. We believe the involvement of a father in the life of his child is beneficial to the child, and ultimately society as a whole. Most of us have made a conscious choice to be the primary care provider for their children. Some work full-time, part-time or work at-home. Some are retired or are at-home dads. We invite all involved fathers to network with us. As researcher Dr. Kyle Pruett says, "fathers have always parented differently than mothers...and father care is as essential as mother care for your child." For this belief and many others, you're an involved dad. ChicagoDads.com is here to help. This is the place to meet other dads from across the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area.
Impromptu Friday night DNO at Hop Haus

Since we've missed our last two Dad's Nights Out (DNO's) I thought I'd throw out tonight (Friday) if anyone wants to get some food and drinks and watch the MLB playoffs. Hop Haus is a nice bar with food at 7545 N. Clark Street (at Howard) with lots of TVs, including personal booth screens.
Twins/Yankees starts at 5:07 PM CT; Red Sox/Angels at 8:37 PM. Maybe we can shoot for around 7PM? Or come when you can.
Also on Saturday evening I'll be catching the Michigan - Iowa college football game at a Michigan bar somewhere near Wrigleyville if you want to meetup.
Shedd Aquarium tomorrow morning (Tues)

Likely that Aurelio and I will be headed over to Shedd Aquarium in the morning, courtesy of the Chicago Public Library pass. Coincidentally, it's also a free day on Tuesday. It's always a madhouse at Shedd, especially on free days, so we're going to try to get there early. Email me if you want to try and meetup, since it's virtually impossible to find people once you're inside.
Here are the upcoming free days at the Shedd:
Field Museum Monday morning

We'll be at the Field Museum this morning if anyone wants to meetup. I don't think it's a free day, though the Shedd is free all week.
County Fair @ Garfield Park Conservatory

Anyone planning on visiting there tomorrow (Saturday) ? Runs 11AM - 4PM. We're going to try and get there around opening time.

The Dreamtree Shakers...

Hi Dads,
If you and the family are looking for something fun to do this Sunday morning, I'd like to suggest an incredible musical/visual performance by Chicago's own 'The Dreamtree Shakers', (11am at the Old Town School). http://www.oldtownschool.org/concerts/2009/9/13_dreamtree.html
Green City Market/Zoo

Hey all,
Talia and I are planning on going to the Green City Market tomorrow and maybe the zoo too if anyone wants to join. Weather should be nice and plenty of room for the kids to go crazy. Hoping to be there around 11:15-11:30. For those who don't know, the market is in Lincoln Park near North Ave. Parking is free on Stockton but can be hard to find. You can also park at the zoo but that's pricey ($17). If you plan on coming, let me know. My cell is (630)951-0200.

Househusbands of Hollywood - on Hulu.
Colin has commented on this previously, I just watched it on Hulu and likewise I thought it was generally pretty good, albeit predictable. The characters are pretty amusing. Check out the full episode at Hulu:
