In just a few short weeks at HomeDadCon 2016, we will hold our Annual Members Meeting, as dictated by our bylaws as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. As part of the meeting, members in attendance (or via proxy vote) will be able to vote from a selection of Nominees for the Board of Directors of the National At–Home Dad Network.

Board Members serve a term of three (3) years, with 3 of the 9 Board Member Seats up for election every year. Here are this year’s nominees for the three open seats:

Incumbents:

Christopher Persley

Christopher Persley

Christopher Persley | New York, NY

Christopher Persley is a former independent school educator and administrator who is now a writer, consultant, and fatherhood advocate. He writes the blog, The Brown Gothamite, which focuses on his journey as an at-home father. Christopher has appeared on national television, print media, and several websites discussing fatherhood. He somehow finds time to also work as both Co-Organizer of NYC Dads Group and Father Focus Lead for the Center for Parental Leave Leadership. Christopher loves having adventures with his five year old daughter Camilla, a.k.a. Courageous Kid, in New York City. His wife, Jenelle, enjoys being the spouse and mother to these two aspiring superheroes.

Chris Routly

Chris Routly

Chris Routly | Portland, OR

Chris Routly, father of two boys, is his seventh year as a full-time at-home dad. Shortly after taking on the role, Chris started writing about his experiences on his blog (“The Full Routly”), which led to opportunities to be on the front lines of the conversation about how the media, brands, and communities can better support and portray modern dads. In 2013 Chris joined the NAHDN Board of Directors, tasked with revamping the official website and taking a large role in expanding their social media presence. In 2015, Chris was selected by the Board of Directors to serve as President.

New Nominees:

Jason Foster

Jason Foster

Jason Foster | Cary, NC

Jason is a Triangle Stay at Home dad with 2 daughters; Julia (2 & 1/2) and Violet (6 months). After careers in coaching and teaching, Jason decided to stay at home when his daughter Julia was born in 2014. In 2015 and 2016, Jason was a member of the National At Home Dad Network Convention Committee. In 2015, he assisted with catering. This year, he took a much more active role with recruiting speakers, being the main point of contact for catering and the local contact for press regarding the Convention.

Darrell Humphrey

Darrell Humphrey

Darrell Humphrey | Charlotte, NC

Former hospital Chaplain, Darrell Humphrey, left the working world in 2012 to become a Stay-at-home father. After participating in his first NAHD Convention last year, he realized that helping this brotherhood of fatherhood was his new calling. He immediately jumped on board the NAHD Media team, and has since started the Charlottes Dads Group. His latest project is the NAHDN’s Meet a Dad, where he interviews fathers across the country and talk about the struggles and triumphs of being a primary caregiver. He lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife Meredith, and two sons, Ethan and Owen.

David McFee

David McFee

David McFee | Palm Coast, FL

A misplaced Australian, David was once an Environmental Scientist working in the Everglades before taking on the role of professional dad in 2014. He is actively involved with the administration of the ‘Stay-At-Home Dads North East Florida’ and is the founder/co-host of SAHDPod, the stay-at-home dad podcast. He, along with his wife and daughter, live by the Atlantic in Palm Coast, Florida.

David Rogers

David Rogers

David Rogers | Hillsborough, NC

David was working on his PhD in Biology when he left to become the primary caregiver to his son Ronan (now almost 3). His contract was extended last March when his daughter Ivy was born. David is an active member of the Triangle Stay-At-Home Dads and the NAHDN. This year, he served on the Home Dad Con 2016 planning committee and took over the duties of Fundraising Coordinator for the Convention, helping to raise close to $20,000 for the organization. He is excited for the opportunity to serve the NAHDN and help it to grow.

Nick Senzee

Nick Senzee

Nick Senzee | Auburn, WA

Nick Senzee is on his second tour of duty as an at-home dad. He has a daughter, 9, and a son, 3. When he is not at home with children, laundry, dishes, and goats, he works in association management. His last cushy job was Executive Director for the American Academy of Oral Medicine, a 1,000-member professional society. Nick is well versed in nonprofit financial practices, tax and incorporation compliance issues, and budget development and monitoring. And stain removal. He lives near Seattle.

Thank you to all of our nominees for their willingness to serve!

Results of the election will be announced live at HomeDadCon, and this post will be updated with them at that time.

The remainder of the Board of Directors after the October 2016 election will be the following continuing members:

  • Greg Washington | Morrisonville, WI
  • Chris Bernholdt | Devon, PA
  • Will Culp | Mahomet, IL
  • Alex Harwood | Denver, CO
  • Austin Dowd | Cary, NC

Many thanks to outgoing Board Member James Kline for his years of service to the NAHDN, both on and off the Board. James’ leadership is a big part of the success of the Raleigh years of HomeDadCon, and he has been an invaluable member of the team. With his three year term ending this October, James has chosen not to run for re-election, and he will be missed. Thank you James!
