Recently our Mom said this when I mentioned I was thinking of trying to go back to work, this is your life love it or leave it, OK maybe not that harsh but you got the idea of where she is going by saying this to me. She wants me involved with the school and to be actively involved Dakota’s life, which I already am so who was I to argue? In a brief recap of what I do in my 5280Dads program, I faciltate an All Pro Parent Monthly Breakfast at our school to reconnect working dads with their kids, I am a Den Leader/Pack (read: Corporate type) Trainer for our Pack 262, and as a part of our convention bid we started a local At Home Dad group called MileHighDads to help when it becomes crunch time for us Colorado based Dads so we have manpower to draw upon. I am on the Board of Directors for our Local Arapahoe/Douglas ARC, Since 1955, The Arc Arapahoe & Douglas County has provided services that promote the general welfare of people with developmental disabilities. Seasonally I am an assistant youth football coach. All this combined in addition to being on the statewide Family Leadership Civic Design Team keeps me rather busy when Dakota is in class 8:30 to 3:30. Then I got this Blog to publish to among other .com postings. But first and foremost, I got household duties, my wife and kid (not specifically in that order) that take priority!
In preparation for the 2013 At Home Dads Convention we are scheduled to hold in Denver, we were out checking out this possible venue that could be too cool for us to hold our premiere Dad event at. It was close to an hour drive from my home-base which allowed for some quality thinking time. I need to come up with some sponsorship money to support my endeavors all in the name of being an At Home Dad. Lofty ambitions I know, but they can’t say no…. or yes if I don’t ask.
So in what free time I can find, I am drafting up a business plan to help me along the way while as my T’s are dotted and eyes are crossed, or is it…
You get the idea! 🙂
