Pretty cool, this year, my four YO has learned competition on the Soccer Field! He played last season but it was just more like running around with the people than playing a game.
Last night he not only scored once, but twice, and had a near miss. He competes with the best of them now he has learned to compete!
I was able to say, “that’s my boy” not once but three times!
Pregame cheer
The first score!
He Shoots, He Scores!

Just kidding. How old did this competition thing kick in? Just curious how long I might have to wait before my little alien realizes there are other people playing something called soccer at the other end of the field and that the ball is not just a passing celestial body.

He was 4 years, 10 months when it happened, it was his second game of his second season; his first season was last spring. It is an amazing transition, one day he is just doing cartwheels down the field when fierce competition is happening on the other end around the goal, then something happened and he turned into the aggressor.
Gotta watch out for the ball hog to move in now, he is realizing fame and glory makes him feel good when other parents are cheering. He also sees some kids on other teams do a NFL style excessive celebration dance after their score every now and then; and that needs to be shut down quick! Nothing worse than seeing a four or 5-year-old do a check me out display.
It is now fun to go watch him play.
