Unbelievable

I saw this on the news last night as it was breaking. The weird thing is that I had just come home from a Toys "R" Us where I had been checking out the Aqua Dots and how cool they were! I was quite floored when I heard the news. How many Chinese toy recalls is it going to take to make everyone realize that there is a serious problem here?

I had not heard last night about the chemical substitution used on the toys, but the price difference of the chemical substituted versus the originally planned chemical is very telling. I definitely expect more and more Chinese companies to cut financial corners as they continue to become a more "capitalist" society competing on the world stage.

Someone's head is going to roll for this one...

Checked out the usmadetoys site

And the first thing I looked at was the big wheel trike and this was in the description

"These are 90% made in the USA, as some of the hardware may come from China."

Doesn't really help us now, does it?

It's kind of helpful. 90%

It's kind of helpful. 90% of a toy being U.S. is a lot better than giving up and going to Wal-Mart to buy the latest Date Rape Lite Brite. A person can only do so much... short of buying their toys from the amish.

Big Wheel Trikes

Off topic I know. I was at the park a few weeks ago and saw a girl of 4 or 5 riding a bigwheel with a metal frame and brakes. Anyone know where I could find something similar or a brand?

I've seen the metal big wheels but i can't remember where. If I come across one again I'll let you know.

Thanks

Thanks for posting. I think MileHi nailed it.
I saw that little girl pulling skids on her big pink big wheel and I thought it was the coolest thing. I wonder if they are available for adults?

Razor Scream Machine

The original metal big wheel bike was the "Razor Scream Machine". They were discontinued a couple of years back, I think, but you can probably find some being sold online at eBay or the like.

Edit - Looks like they were so popular that they have brought them back: http://www.razorama.com/razor-scream-machine.html

From the website
Recommended age: 4 years and up
Max Rider Weight: 220 lbs

I guess it just depends if the seat goes back far enough.
