The 2008 SAHD Fishing Trip will be held on March 15 in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Most guys arrive Thursday and leave Sunday in order to enjoy the Florida weather a little more.
I am still working out the details of the charter, but our 'home' will be the Best Western Ocean View Hotel.
We will fish all day Saturday for a mixed bag of offshore fish -- mostly grouper and snapper, but also cobia and whatever pelagic fish might be running at the time.
The event is open to SAHDs from anywhere. Traveling by air, you should fly into Orlando. It's about 45 minutes to Cocoa from there.

I will post updates here as I get them.

I'm penciling it in...
I wasn't able to make last year b/c the trip fell on the same weekend as DD's birthday, but since it's a few weeks earlier in the year this time, I will definitely try to join you this year. I'm not into the boat part of fishing (actually, I'm not into the fishing part of fishing...), so I'd be part of the landlubber crew...but I'd love to come hang out with the guys for the weekend.
OK: miles for free ticket, check. Reasonably priced hotel, close enough, check...anybody want to share?. Squirreled away food and beverage expenses, check. Share a rental car with someone? Hmm, I think I just might be able to get this one past purchasing...

Cool, Andy
I should mention that there are probably plenty of 'cheaper' hotels in the immediate area, but I chose the BW because the rooms are big enough to squeeze in 3 guys per room if necessary (short straw gets the floor!) and it is walking distance to the fishing pier and directly on the beach.

Have to pass...
Last time I was in Florida I tried a fishing charter and was looking forward to it. The day I arrived and we headed to the peir in Fort Meyers when a small craft warning was issued for rough seas. That 4 hours on the Vomit Comet was the longest century of my life that day. All 20+ were hurling over the side but two. Tossing into the wind made for a lovely shower for everyone.
The weather may be there, but I won't! Have an awesome weekend as I freeze and shovel that snow we will hopefully be getting.
**It just dawned on me, that we will be back from from a week in Cancun at an All Inclusive Beach Resort two weeks before your fish. SWEET!!

Very cool
Sounds like a wonderful time, but I doubt I can make it.
I do love to fish.

Fishing In 2008
I'll have to see if this will work with our schedule this year. I would love to attend however, heading to NoCal the first week of April and it may not work. I'll let you know Jim. Thanks, Robb
Hey Robb!
You should join the e-group and keep up with it even if you're only a distant maybe.
I am about to book the charter, and I am trying to figure out if I should pay deposit on a second boat.
It would be great if you could make it.

More details ...
For anyone waiting to see what the cost is before signing on ...
I will need to collect $250 per person for the fishing day. The actual cost varies depending on how many ways things are split. When the final count is in, I pay the captain(s) and mate(s) and refund the difference at the trip.
I will need $100 deposit by January 15 to hold a spot and the rest by the end of February.

Website updated
Just wanted to note that I have updated the web site (see my sig). It gives what info I have and has photos from past years. That plus Bruce's link should give a really good idea of what the trip is about. Room for more!
We are booked with Copout Charters (www.copoutfishing.com) in Port Canaveral. (Please contact me and not the charter with questions!)

Reminder
Just a reminder that in order to hold a spot on this fishing trip, I will need a deposit (100+) by January 15 (by Jan 11 would be better). After the 15th, I will cancel the second boat if there are not enough guys, essentially closing the trip.
