Ha, I bet you thought this was a napping thread!
I know this is pretty, well, not progressive compared to other music posts, but classic none the less.
The year, 1972

The year, 2007
Feel old? 35 years between remakes. Dang… Joe Wash, Glenn Fry, Don Henley and Timothy B. Schmidt otherwise known as the Eagles. Not bad for a bunch of Grandpa’s!

How bout Jimmy Buffett in 1973
Where were you in ’73, were you even born? In ’73 I was 12 years old living in Boulder Colorado.
I know, I know, my IPod could rock you to sleep.

Snooze

I read once that Sleep Centers play The Eagles to insomniacs who don't respond to strong drugs. :-)

I also heard that Jummy Buffet music was used in a covert gov op to drive people insane and become rampaging mushroom cloud laying mofos. Apparently "cahnges in lattatudes/changes in attitudes," will make some stark raving mad. Fortunately, in both instances, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Pretentious Moon," was found to work the best.

You want to rock? "Live at Leeds" L7 "Hungry for Stink," and "the Best of The Smithereens."

Be Seeing You.

1973...

Hmm, I was 11.

Actually there is a lot of music from 73 I like a lot. Jimmy Buffett wasn't it for me. Eagles then yes! Eagles now NO!

Live at Leeds does rock! Not only one of my favorite Who albums, but one of my favorite live albums. TO BE PLAYED LOUD!!!

Rock on!

Ooooo, 1973 I was (ahem) 2.

When the extended" Live at Leeds" came out I scoffed but being the Who-aholic I am I bought it and maaan is it good.

Peter Gabriel's "Plays Live" is a great live album too, but he is such a perfectionist much of the concert was rerecorded in the studio.

Yes, it was a wonderful year.
And my mp3 player (Zune) is full of "classics"
Eagles, Rolling stones, Santana, The Doors, Beatles, Ramones, ABBA, etc, and my favorite "Pink Floyd".
"Money so they say
Is the root of all evil today"

Now for my 2 yo son I'm playing the "Rockabye Baby" Lullaby Renditions
(http://www.rockabyebabymusic.com/web/page.asp)

"Nirvana" rocks

I used to like the Eagles

In 1973 I was 8; glad to see I'm not the oldest guy here!

I liked the Eagles so much in the '70s that for an art class project I decided to make an album cover (two pieces of cardboard stapled together) and chose the Eagles' greatest hits. Well, I suck as an artist, so I had to give up on that. I think I chose to just make up my own picture, but I don't remember what it was.

In junior year of high school I discovered punk rock/college radio and turned my back on "classic rock" for a while. I've come back around on Led Zep, the Stones, the Who, the Doors and others, but not the Eagles.

So I can't really comment on this, but I was in Hilton Head a couple years ago and met up with a winnebego filled with 50 and 60 year old women who go out on tour with Buffet every year. They were so much fun and had the whole bar going. They kept ordering shots of this or that and passed them around to anyone who wanted one. We left the bar at 1:00 am and they were still going strong. I can only hope to have that much energy and love for life when I catch up to them. I hope they are still at it.

I was 15 going on 16. Got my drivers license in the Fall. All we did was ROCK. Tull, Zepplin, Foghat, Lynerd Skynerd, Kansas, Bowie, Who, Deep Purple, Queen just came out and did Aerosmith, Elton John (Good by yellow brick road), my god man the year rocked, but my favorite was Zappa's Overnight Sensation.
I forgot Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Marshal Tucker, Hot Tuna, Roxie Music, and another little known band called Fleetwood Mac. That was a great summer.

Same here

I'm with you Randy... man, a lot of these dudes are OLD. I'm surprised they even know how to use these fancy computers. ;-)

Still, love me some classic rock. Floyd, Bowie and Zepplin.

Ah yes!

The Monkees, Gilligan's Island (I like Mary Ann), and I used to like to be home from school in time to watch Speed Racer before going out to play baseball with my buds.

So, even if the movie totally flops, I like the Mach 5 merchandise I can finally get, like the 1:24 scale die cast metal replica. (ok, I'm kind of a nerd when it comes to stuff like that)

And Bellyman, Fleetwood Mac...73....was that on then cusp of Christine Mac Vie/ Stevie Nicks era, or was it still the rock n roll Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green? I have a bootleg concert tape of Fleetwood Mac from '69 with Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac playing their original "Black Magic Woman" (as made famous by Santana and "Green Manalishi" later covered by Judas Priest.

Christine Mac Vie was

Christine Mac Vie was playing with them at the time. The album that came out in 73 was Mystery to Me and it would put you to sleep. A few years earlier they had come out with Bare Trees that I used to play all the time. Stevie Nicks didn't join the band until Rumors 3 or 4 years later and the rest is history.
I was thinking about 73 last night and the significance of that year. First time I changed a diaper, my first niece and it was a cloth diaper that you had to pin the sides with safty pins. I was scared that I would poke her with them. When my sister came home the diaper was down to her knees.
Also that summer my twin and I worked at the school and meet up with some great guys and we are still the best of friends to this day.

For the Record

I was 4 and already trying to kiss the girls in Sunday School (the Eagles made me do it). Was also introduced to KISS by the ripe old age of 7, Oh Yeah....

Mac Attack

Fleetwood Mac?
I saw Fleetwood Mac for free (actually I was paid to see them) when I was working the MTV Up Front. They played like a bunch of tripped out rejects from Shakedown Street.

This will make your bull run; Queens of the Stone Age!
