re:before your babys were born

YES!! And still do some days!! Just remember, it wouldn't be so rewarding if it wasn't scary and hard. I, fortunately, had a good role model. By that I mean my dad sucked, and still does. Seriously, when in doubt, I think to myself, "What would dad have done?" Then I do the opposite.

Speaking of Knocked Up

Check out that movie. There are some really good scenes in there that will help you feel normal.

"I’m not talking to you, Alison! I’m talking to you, hormones! Fuck you, hormones! You’re a crazy bitch!”

If you ain't questioning, you're doin' it wrong

If you don't live in abject terror of screwing your kid up either mentally, or emotionally, or socially, or some-other-ly, then you're doing something wrong. Being scared means you're a good dad. Calm dads mean they aren't busting their ass caring for their kids. Look at most of us. Sarcastic, loud, vulgar, whiskey chugging, middle of the day masturbating, coffee sucking, "wish I could get a pot vending machine here" morons. If rejects like us can do it, so can you.

Welcome to fraternity. Now go kick the old lady in the ass and get her to rub your feet.

Foot massage

I agree with TickTock. There are some great scenes in "Knocked Up" and next to Seth Rogan's character, you'll look like a champ. Just don't forget to read the baby books!

Someone gave me great advice when my wife was pregnant the first time. They told me to giive her a foot massage when she's stressed out or tired. Apparently, that extra 30-50 pounds takes a toll on the feet. It worked like a charm! She relaxed quickly every time. Give it a try.

weird music and fart jokes

I play my weird music for my son, although I have to be careful to think if there are gonna be bad words in any given song (for instance, we share a love for indie rockers Chin Up Chin Up, who have a song titled, "Get Me Off This F****ing Island"; it's literally spelled that way, so my son, who's 5 1/2, calls it "Get Me Off This F/G Island"), and we make fart jokes, which I hope he doesn't repeat in school. This is certainly far different than the relationship I had with my father. Not to say my father wasn't a good dad, just that things were different.

I see a lot of myself already in my son, which is weird. I worry that he's gonna take on too many of m bad qualities -- low self-confidence, shyness, short temper, and not enough of my good ones -- tying my own shoes, eating too much pizza, occasionally getting in shape.

Still, I know that my wife and I are doing a great job and that if we weren't worried about him and our daughter, then we wouldn't be doing a great job.

Fair warning

This hormonal anslaught your wife is going through does not end the day she gives birth...It could go on for a good six months afterwards....Just ride the wave and know that the good days are a comin....
