Looking for new games or strength training, etc for me and my son. Right now we read a lot, and play with his toys, and I do my best to make him laugh as much as possible., but am running out of new ideas and can see him loose interest in some.
New Ideas and games for 5 month old

My eight-month-old daughter likes it when my wife and I sing to her. And she likes to have me hold her while we dance to whatever's on the iPod. The more stimulation, the better. Is he ready for an exercise saucer? That's something my daughter has loved for a few months now.

I and my wife sing and dance with him all day and he loves it. We just bought him a bouncer that hooks to the door jam, and he is a bouncing machine (beautifull, bouncing, baby, boy - big fans of aliteration) but I think it is too restrictive and we are going to get one for the floor so we can bring him around with us. Thanks for the comment.

try new textures, colors, sounds on the radio, smells, sing to him! everything" I'm gonna change you diaaapperrrr nowww Lalalalalala ooohhh" "letssssss gooooo eatoooooo" get the point ,switch his positions, he could be getting tired of the same views. I put KGA in her car seat and carried her everywhere all the time. I would apologize for taking her into the head when I poohed but then again I am always there when she did.

Hey your Dogmais stuck in my peanut butter

I remember standing in the toy store trying to figure out what the hell you can get for a 5 month old. All of the suggestions here are great. I got Jane some of those fabric blocks that crinkle or jingle when you shake them and she loved those.
Hikes in a backpack or walks in a stroller, weather permitting. If not, a few laps around the nearest mall might do the trick. If he's not holding his head up well yet, you might want to use a 'front mount' carrier instead (like a Snugli or Baby Bjorn) of a backpack. Plus you can still see him.

Of course, it's hardly surprising that I would recommend backpacking with the kid. 5 months was when I started Erin in a real backpack instead of a snugli. She loves being able to see the world from my altitude, and even at 5 months she could fall asleep in it on longer walks as long as I nested her right.
Also of use at this still pre-crawling stage was a mirror-on-a-wedge, angled up so she could see it if she pushed herself up a little on her elbows during tummy time.
And Sophie, the $20 giraffe, for teething and squeaky-toy fun.
