At 8:58pm EST the "Who's Online" feature lists 8 members and 229 guests. Wow.
Is this accurate? That seems like a lot of traffic (a good thing!).

Stop mind-controlling me.
Thoughts about fatherhood, philosophy, fencing, and hockey abound at http://shawn-burns.livejournal.com/

Most of it is bot traffic probably.

i recently registered. i am now posting. i am ryan. ["hello ryan"] mostly musician, soon to be stay-at-home dad. well...more likely than not, and hopefully so. daughter (first child) due april 23. dunno how i found you but have enjoyed the reads thus far. that should cover my "outing". thanks for having me. [claps]

Welcome Ryan, thanks for stepping forward.
Tom Servo and Crow. Wow. I haven't seen MST3000 in ages.

The guest counts are reasonably accurate. Some of it is bots (i.e. not people, but things like search engines reading the site for their indexes), but perhaps only 5-20%. It is basically giving a count of how many different computers have accessed the site within the last few minutes.
In any case, there are several thousand different visitors here each month and only a fraction of those are active regulars. That's a lot of lurkers. So, welcome Ryan... and everyone else is welcome too. Sign up for an account, post something - you can say hi here if you want:

Thanks!

Hey Ryan, welcome! It's good to have you. I especially love having a fellow musician. I play the keyboard and sing...so again, welcome!
