I've tried to post pictures and I am failing miserably. I consider myself to be a computer guy and well I am stumped. I host the picture on my web site on my .mac server. Do I need to host them some where else?
I really feel like A doot daa doot here.

All replies are appreciated except for zings or funnies about my infliction of Idiotism...

Sincerely, Chef Kev...

EDIT: I tried JPhilips. it was an NG. the picture was to big

I tried to use the [img] http.yada.yada[/img] NG image was to big Fatal error.

I will next try uploading the pics to a service..

EDIT X2: I did it, I'dd like to thank all the people who were there every step of the way....

Photobucket is good too!

Photobucket has updated their software so that you can manipulate it like it was in photoshop. VERY NICE! You can even put cyber-stickers on your photos, as well as shading, sizing, framing, etc...

Well I was going to zing...

Flickr is probably the best image hosting around. Shy of using that, or any of the other hosting sites, you need the direct link to the image you're trying to post and then wrap it in img tags. Like this:

[ img ]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2089/2263462308_5fab322ec8_m.jpg[ /img ]

With the spaces taken out of the string, right against the img and /img tags. That will result in this:

Ok Will.

No fair. She is beautiful. Who is that?

Also, I just use the file attachment button at the bottom and browse the folder that I need on my hard drive. What's wrong with that?

Oh Paddywon II

I feel like I been here before! Eh Paddyrat? But this is new and improved and easier! Try Picassa and your good to go.
Go to your web picture account and right click the photo you want to post and select properties. If you are a Mac head this will not work, just just copy and paste per your OS. This will open a dialogue box with the pictures URL in it, highlight all of the URL and press Ctrl C to Copy then go to your AHDad post and enter the tag[img] (press Ctrl P, copied URL [/img] = closing tag without the spaces before and after copied URL and the tags. I just needed to add those to make this work. Note the two tags are different and need to be added in the correct order with no spaces what-so-ever between the tags. Then preview before posting.

hey now...

Kev,
Even the most technically deficient (i.e. - me) found lots of respect and admiration when I mastered the art of posting photos using photobucket.com. It's so simple, a caveman can do it (take that GEICO). Just open your account (free) and upload all sorts of pics and when you want to post them here just 1. copy the img link, 2. paste said link on the page, 3. and done.... sit back and wait for all the admiration you deserve, (or not).

Aye, there's nary an animal alive that can outrun a greased scotsman...

Kate

Her name is Kate. At my photography meeting last month we met at a studio not far from here. Sixteen of us showed up and it was literally Kate's first day working at that studio as the assistant. She sat there and endured those of us who shot her like a champ, despite the fact that she'd only been working at that studio two hours when we showed up.

That's one nice thing about most web based photo hosting sites, you can post a resized picture. Easy to do in Flickr and most everywhere else.
