What is your favorite toy/tool in the kitchen?
Since I feed a gang, my can't live without toy is the rice cooker.
Most of the time I cook about 4 or 5 cups at a time so I can use the left overs for fried rice the next day. If there is some.
Ofcourse the convection oven and convection/micrwave are great to have. Plus everthing is done at the same time. Just got those last year and it took some time to master them.

Favorite toy/tool

In the kitchen? It's my fourteen inch stainless steel frying pan. Grilled sandwiches, eggs, flapjacks, spaghetti al burro, and everything else. All three kids are satisfied fast.

As for Randy's "friend", the crossover tool of choice: the whisk. But I wash it -- before and after. ;-)

other than that I have many multitasking items- My Cuisinart is a must have, I use a global 12'' french knife that I love, I have three ovens 2 are convection one is still, I'm looking into a steam jacket ( just a small steamer/pressure cooker )
But most of all I love my GRILL. I would say life is not worth living if I can't have charred animal / fish flesh........

12" chef's knife

The kind you get cheap at restaurant supply places. The kind that are found in kitchens from Paris, France to Paris, Texas. The kind that'll stand up to a good bit of abuse in a restaurant kitchen, and is damn near indestructible in the home kitchen.

hand cranked...

Pasta maker. Whenever I have a bad day I make pasta. The process quiets me. I used to make a lot of pasta when I worked everyday but since I stay home I seem to no make as much pasta.

Favorite toy is the Island :-)
