Free Day

I've got a rare free day all to myself till kids soccer tonight @ 5:30, the wife took my 5 YO skiing at A-Basin for the day. Sure, I would've liked to go but a free day for me sounded better than taking my show on the road where she would disappear and I would have to sherpa kid and gear, to and from lessons, and I would be in trouble for something or other, can you relate?
Are you forever in trouble?
Mom and son bonding can happen now without me getting in the way, ya, that's it!
Besides, I think I hear my Pillow calling me! Better go and see what that's all about...

Dude

I'm stuck inside with a sick, whiney 18 month old (and starting to feel like I'm coming down with what she's got) and you're rubbing in the fact that you've got nothing to do until 5:30??

Well, thanks for nothing, bud!!! :-)

All the same, I'm sure you've earned a little time off, so congrats to you as well.

Sorry Jon but I too have part of the day off. Granted it is to the dentist but time off is time off. I'm even going to Midtown Comics to look for back issuses.

Vitamin C take a sh-t load now, pound with water, then pray.

Be Seeing You.

I Guess I Won't

Rub in the fact that after I posted this, I took a 3 hour pre lunch nap and was able to finish a book I have had checked out for 4 months.
**UPDATE**
The wife just called at their lunch and she said he is digging the slopes, he did so well this morning that he graduates to the Magic Carpet lift this afternoon while skiing with Mom.
What he really wants to do, is Snowboard. We told him he has to learn to ski first to get well rounded on the sliding sports and he said, "aw man"!

The wife took a day off today, just becuase, so I was able to:
A) go to work for two hours and get paid for 6.
B) pick up take out on the way home for lunch
C) Take a two hour nap (and unfortunately wake up with a bad headache)
D) Enjoy quiet time around the house whilst she and the boy are out for a walk around downtown Lodi.

Well

Well, F all ya'll. :-)

My wife is coming home late, the kid is sick as hell, and I now can't breathe out of my right nostril and have a sore throat. I'm typing on my knees because the only way my daughter won't cry is if she's sitting in the desk chair (right now it's not a fight worth fighting). All the hot moms in my Wednesday playgroup have been e-mailing saying how much they missed my good looks and sense of humor at the group today since we couldn't come out because of the sick kid.

OK, I made that last part up, but I fully expect it to happen based on the way today is going. Glad everyone else had a good day.

Update

I just washed toddler poo off my right hand. That s$#* was everywhere! I also just checked and found that there's only one Yuengling left.

I see no users are currently online but me. I bet the rest of you are off having sex with your beautiful wives. Who've probably taken care of the kids all day. Fine, just fine.

Broke in the buggy...

It's a long one for me today, (as is usual), wife gone before sunrise, and not due home for at least another 2 hrs, (9p central). But the weather today in Chicago was beautiful, ~50 degrees with sun, and rapidly shrinking snow piles. I broke out my brand new 2-seater buggy, hitched it to the back of my Schwinn, and took the kids out for a ride and a play in the parks. We spent at least 4 hrs outside. I love the spring - we've been cooped up too long.

Perspective

OK alby1, thanks for putting things in perspective. At least our temp hit 70 today. I put Jane in the stroller and we walked and walked this afternoon. BackpackingDad- thanks for being a hater with me! :-)

Alright

Worse than I thought. I had two teeth drilled and my mouth aches like a honkey mofo.

Does that eleviate some hate? Oh and I had to hear a Billy Joel song being played publicaly so I couldn't avaoid it.

Be Seeing You.

Ha

OK, Jonathan, you're off the hook. Billy Joel AND teeth drilling in the same day almost trump sick kid and one beer. That, and at least my closet doesn't have a stank to it.

Sorry Fellas

Dudes,
Sorry to hear bout your anguish in this thread but, It's a great day to be alive! Never forget that as the alternative is pretty darn bleak. The worst day I ever had being an AHD has been by far better than most above average days in the corporate environment, they are few and far between. Capiche?
Don't shoot me, but, It's a great day to be alive!

Do it to it MileHigh!
I hope you enjoyed your day. We all get them now and again. I went to my fave tacco place on 2nd Ave and thought, "it's great to be alive as well." Then there was a lot of drilling and injections, so I thought "it's gerat to have novocane and insuarance."

Be Seeing You.

Amen

Yes fellas, we do have a lot to be thankful for. Glad its a new day- Jane has a wicked cough, but the fever/fussing is gone and I feel fine. The temp today should be around 75, so we're going to walk to the grocery store and buy a case of Yuengling for this evening after the wife gets home, then we'll probably stop in the park and play on the swings.

Thanks for the reminder MileHi- in hindsight yesterday was still a lot better than most days workin' for the man were.

Most Assuredly

Better – in my opinion – to be home for our children than at an office or work place. I never liked working (granted this is the hardest I have ever worked, although I did dig graves once and was bitten by red ants) and my wife loves it so it all works out.

I will add I think it very profound that we live in a society, for all its faults, that allows we men to stay home with only a few raised eyebrows.

Be Seeing You.
Jonathan
