I am 3 weeks into using this site. At the same time I have investigated some of the "other" sites for SAHD. This is the easiest to use in my opinion. I also like that the members seem to be honest, but not judgemental. Other sites discussions seemed a bit critical at times.

I did see some frequent flyers on other sites, although some of you may be using alternate names. Either way its all good. I have been testing the site, by commenting and asking questions. Feedback has been very good so far.

I hope I can contribute, and look forward to learning from you all.

I do need to know, what really goes on at the SAHD Convention? Or is it, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?

Anyways, way to go. I love it here!

P.S. Thank God the kids are finally sleeping...

Convention

Welcome to the site!

As for the convention, (organizer here), it is not the what happens in the convention stays in the convention. Just the opposite, we hope that you share the information. If you got the convention website, www.athomedadconvention.com there is a fair amount of information on the happenings there. Also, under the "about the convention" tab, at the bottom of the page is the schedule of events from last years gig.

My $0.02, the convention was the best thing that ever happened to me in my AHD career. I went to my first before my son was born to see what I was getting myself into. I learned a ton, met a bunch of great guys who have become this support group, and when the opportunity came open to step in and continue the event, I couldn't pass it up.

Yes, as organizer I'm biased, but ask those who've been there. It's a great little break from "work", and you'll gain some good information and be able to build your own support group.

Get Your Beer Here

The Meet and Greet is most awesome, and the beer is cold and plentiful, or in this year's case, the wine's fine. Hey Dayv, what's instore for this years Meet and Greet?

Beer...Bleck

JPhillips and I are looking forward to wine coolers...right JPhillips? LOL! :P Convention is awesome. I went for the first time this past year and loved it. It's my only break from 'work' for most of the year so I personally took advantage of it. Learned a lot, met some great guys, slept in (with nobody coming in to wake me up and tell me to be quiet so mom can still sleep!), just had a great, relaxing time. You should definitely go!

Oh yes!

I will be Bartyles and you can be James!

Go to the convention. You will never regret it. Many of the best connections here were started at the conventions of years gone by.

What goes on? It's exactly like this website, but realtime! Some information, lot's of fun, some good humor, some bad humor, a little bit of teasing, but a lot of good friends made. Start saving your pennies now so that you can go. There are previous threads that have some great reasons to give your wife for letting you go.

As others have said, make it happen. You will not regret the effort. I was one of those SAHD's that was all alone until I discovered the convention. What a huge difference. I didn't even know about this site until last year's convention. Now it is my 'other' lifeline.

Besides, where else can you see a formidable goalie holding a glass of wine?
