I got an email last week from an editor at Women's World Magazine. She wanted me to call her for a 10 minute phone interview about Tom's of Maine Toothpaste. She kept referring to my daughter and how she likes the strawberry toothpaste. I was a little freaked out that someone knew this info about my daughter. Apparently she read a post from athomedad.org that included a thread on this subject. I calmed down a little after I read the old thread and understood where she got her info. I wrote back to her saying that I do not make it a habit of giving out personal info (phone number) on the internet, so if she would be so kind as to give me a time to call her, I would happily answer any questions she might have. I still have not gotten a response. There were several others making comments in that original post. Did any of you get an email from this magazine?

Not I

You can always vet her via the mag if you are curious about her cred. We Gen Xers must remember that to the Millenimus/Gen Y there is almost no concept of privacy as we understand it. To many 20 somethigns the web is for getting perosnal info and she may have been put off by your very reasonable and understandable responce.

Be Seeing You.

Good point

by dkremers_1965. That is probably exactly what it was. I wonder why my wife didn't suggest that.

Almost, DK.

Actually, she probably had a hankering for a Big Fat Yeast Roll from the Quincy's Boy.

Well

.. at least I'm in good company! It's just starting to get old. Just last week I was talking to this guy who, through whatever twists our conversation went through, said that he had been on the back of a cheerios box.
In a Speedo.

Granted, he said he was three at the time. Also granted, I don't care to appear anywhere in a Speedo, but still- the option to say, "you know, I don't think I'm going to appear in your pages wearing a Speedo, Woman's World" would be nice. I'm starting to feel like the only guy without a cool blog/CD/magazine article/cereal box/KFC bucket thing to my name. Damn.

You're Not Alone Jon

I have no cool blog, never been asked for any articles or interviews, have a northerner's skin tone (ghost white), pick my nose on occasion, and have a passion for politics. I will be your uncool friend! ;-)

I'm with you Jon and Randy

I have a blog, and even my own family doesn't read it. Well, my wife does, but she usually says something like, "Oh, are you blogging again?" as though I do it all the time.

My picture appeared on the alumni mag from my college, but it was me, walking away from the camera, amidst a group of people on graduation day. I only knew it was me because I was the only one wearing black Chuck Taylors.

MattDotRedSquirrel...

I got off the phone this morning with her then saw this post, it was no big deal as it was all about kids toothpaste and flavor, I was 1 of 5. She has no idea when it'll run.
The WWW is a big place and people do read our content looking for story ideas. She emailed me for permission to talk, I ran some checks on the mag, found it to be legit and sent her my number and time to call. And she just called.
I woulda enjoyed talking about my nagging slice to Golf Mag but they didn't call.
Waahhh, Snivle Sni...
One down

Encouraging...

I think it's encouraging that sources that seem as mom-centric as Womans World are checking out dad sites and then even interviewing us on matters related to raising children. Gents, are we about to get universal acceptance??
