It looks mighty unsafe to individuals on the outside...

...but they claim not one child has ever been injured. The child sure isn't going to hit the ground in that crowd! Not to mention fire rescue personnel are trained in this sort of thing to save peoples' lives. So, let them have their ritual. I can guarentee you that those kids will do plenty of other stupid shit in their lifetimes to put their bodies and possibly lives on the line.
