I should have spent more time at the office.

Ah the common lament, not for me however. I must say that since my “office” these past few days, of near perfect weather, has been the play grounds on Cortelyou Rd, where I have been hanging out with the other at home moms/dads, drinking ice coffee and eating bagels, while we watch our kids play, I can definitely say, “I wish I had more time at the office.” My little one is off to preschool in Sept. So my leisurely days of drawing dinosaurs with calk on the ground and chatting amiably with my neighbors is coming to and end. But I’m enjoying watching my girl grow and make friends.

I must say I feel I “arrived” yesterday when my daughter was given a written invite to a birthday party next weekend. Kristi, the mother of the girl who is having the birthday, I always thought was rather indifferent to me. We always have nice chats but I thought I was going to cry, I have finally been accepted. More importantly my daughter has been too.

Awesome

I've totally enjoyed the last couple of weeks here at the "office" as well. This weather sure is nice and I, too, am starting to really fit in with the locals.

Great Post

I'm really happy for you, No. 2. I know you've worked for that moment for some time.

Like you and Jon, how can one not enjoy an office that involves outside time in 70+ degree weather, a blanket in the park, some good eats and some cool kids (your own, of course!). Toss in some conversation with the locals and all is really, really good.

You can find me at Miller Park here in W-S tomorrow, sometime in the mid to late afternoon. I too will be making a coffee run beforehand.

Grats......2.7 and I have been fall into bed sleeping , with this weather this way I found the joy of watching the world from her point of view. Simple things like finding an ant mound and talking about them and what they are doing. Laying in the grass looking up at the clouds.
learning to ride her tricycle......these are the good time my fellow S@HD'S....I remember a post this winter about what the was to do in the dank dark cold?
A few of us damn near didn't make it through to the spring....Just think the local pools open in a few weeks.....WOOT WOOT

OK

AMR- My folks (in W-S) are really starting to ride my ass about coming up to visit them. Now that you're talking about Miller park I'm thinking I may have to take them up on it. I'd think Reynolda Gardens is pretty nice this time of year too.

I always forget whether . . .

they are your folks or your wife's parents. Miller is nice b/c it is fenced in and has a good amount of concrete for bike riding (many kids roll around at breakneck speeds, mine included). It is also wonderfully shaded. Tanglewood is the best place for playground equipment, by far. We live near Bethabara -- I keep meaning to take mine on a nature walk similar to that one could have in Reynolda Gardens.

Man or Beast -- you're a W-S resident, correct? Where's your "office?"

That's great

I love the "office" analogy. I'm with ya. I think I am going to spend much time there Friday after preschool.

I have to warn you, though, that preschool doesn't take as much time as you might think. At least it only lasts a couple of hours in morning here in the Heartland. The real "away time" starts in kindergarten for me. Seven hours of separation from all the kids.

And I am glad to see that I am not the only one who also enjoys just "watching" my kids sometimes. Their play is truly fascinating, especially if I don't try to tell them what to do all the time. Sometimes with dad, sometimes without. It's all good, I think.
