i came home from work 30 minutes ago to an empty house.
the kids are sleeping over my sister-in-laws and my wife when to a co-workers college graduation party.
the house is empty and quiet and i'm confused at to what to do. the possibilities are endless. it's like i just skipped my first day of school and i'm like "okay, home alone. now what?"
i think i'll spend some time drinking and working on math equations first and then just go from there.
I was pretty psyched last Saturday when my wife took our son to the Big Apple Circus and my daughter took a 2 1/2 hour nap and I got to watch "Gone Baby Gone" by myself with no interruptions. Felt weird, but oh so right!

Once a year, my wife will take the kids to her parents, leaving me with Sally and Katie (my dogs), my beer, my tv, my golf clubs. H-E-A-V-E-N. By Sunday, I'm a H-E-A-T-H-E-N.
Ack, please tell me you ate hot wings. Mandatory eats when my family leaves. Oh, and smoked a cigar on the back porch.

A friend of mine came home to an empty house a few weeks ago but it didn't have the jolly ending like yours. I was in panic mode when I read your first paragraph.

My wife took all the kids out so I could get some sleep. Since I work the night shift, most of my napping is taken after the older kids come home from school. I woke up thinking why is it so quite and what are they doing? I couldn't get back to sleep and told my wife not to do that again unless she tells me first. Wake me up and tell me so I don't have my ears listening for the kids.
I had joined my wife in Vegas on Wednesday thru Saturday at the tail end of a conference that she was attending while the grandparents tended to the kids back home.
On the first day I had some alone time and it was an OMG WTF moment because I was a little at a loss without the kids and feeling like I had something I HAD to be doing. Then it dawned on me...I'm in Vegas baby! So I went down and grabbed a light breakfast, played a little blackjack and went to the pool for a bit. Then, not even a few minutes later, OMG and WTF had a whole new meaning! Amazing.
We would never get anything convention oriented done if the convention were to be held in Vegas!

I went to the casino Friday night but the whole no kid and sleep in was wasted by staying up until 0400 and then up at 0700 and back on the road home by 0900. WTF to me. I should have slept until they kicked me out. I did go home a winner. On a side note I killed my numbers for JPhilips booze survey/thread and probably finished the week out 20+.
