As a huge Batman fan I'm loath to not be the first to post a review but...has anyone seen it?

Can't wait!!!

I haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait. I LOVED Batman Begins.
One clear disadvantage to being in charge of the kids all day is you don't get to go to the movies as much. I have a 3.5 month old, and though I can get her in free, I doubt she would quietly let me enjoy the whole picture. As for my 5-year-old, who goes to preschool 3 days a week, I'm afraid to expose him to that much not-quite-kid-friendly material. I understand that Heath's Joker makes Nicholson's look like Pee Wee Herman.
But rest assured - if and when I do get to see it, I will be letting yall know what I think!

So why don't they call it mooching when the wife stays home?

sleep right thru it

at 3.5 months i bet she would sleep right thru it. go to a matinee when its not busy, take the car carrier in and she probably will sleep right thru it. Mine did, all i did was rock them in the seat next to me and i was able to enjoy a movie every now and then....if not, make nice, nice with the stay at home mom next door and offer to watch her kid/kids once in a while so she can have her hair/fingernails/toe nails etc done......it works here in michigan..

She KNOWS, I'm tellin ya...

Jacqueline (3.5 mos) does take pretty good naps during the day, but the exact time changes from day to day. And it never fails...she can be out like a light... and all I have to do is turn on my Gamecube and get ready for a little Zelda Windwaker action...WAAAAH!!!! I swear she knows when I'm about to do something fun, and there's no doubt in my mind that a new Batman movie would be no exception.
We've only been in this neighborhood a few months, and I haven't gotten to know my neighbors enough to know if there are any home-moms, let alone the kind I'd feel comfortable leaving my kids with (e.g., tobacco and booze in the house are big no-no's.) But if all goes well, my parents should be moving to this area soon, and then I'll have it made in the shade as far as babysitting. I don't think I can wait til then to see Dark Knight, but I should be in good shape next May when the new Star Trek comes out! Oh yeah, and the new Harry Potter is out this November! heck, I may try to join ReelzChannel's Movie Mob!

So why don't they call it mooching when the wife stays home?

I saw it last night in IMAX!

Bottom line: it was an incredible movie that will leave you on edge for the entire film! The Chicago scenery was an extra bonus for us Chicagoans.

Warning: the movie is very intense and I would not recommend it for kids under 10 at the very least.

Typical SAHD Viewing :^{

I saw about half of it; the half I saw was amazing. I arranged to see the late-night viewing of it so my wife and I wouldn't have to arrange for a date night, so the kids were in bed sleeping soundly as I left. My wife was on call, though, so I got the dreaded call at midnight one hour into the film saying she had to go in. Sigh. Well, so much for playing the numbers... I do plan on watching the rest of it as soon as possible though; great performances throughout.

two thumbs up (and 1 toe)

Definately the movie Tim Burton WANTED to make... a way different spin on the Batman franchise than I anticipated. I hope that graphic novels are the future of movie scripts (saw a trailer for Watchmen, I gasped) All performances were super cool and the praise for Heath Ledger is deserved. Maybe not the best movie I've seen this year (although it would've been the best if shot in a style like Sin City) Certainly a must see...

Watchmen Trailer Link

Some of the shots are like panels come to life. Still, that just isn't Rorschach's voice in my mind.

.

I saw Hellboy and it was fantastic. I'm avoiding this thread because I'm scared of spoilers. I'm planning on seeing Batman soon, for sure.

I'm thinking of having an outdoor movie party to show Tim Burton's Batman. Does that sound interesting or lame? Kids would be invited too.

I vote yay

on the outdoor Batman party. Do you have a projector? What kind? What do you think of it?

(I'm thinking of getting one both for work and for home at some point in the not-too-un-distant future.)

Cheers,
Steve

...

I do have an InFocus digital projector. I bought it for $1000 when I was in Chicago to use for some comedy shows I was directing. I rented it out to other sketch comedy groups, and I made enough money doing that to pay for the original expense.

It gets the job done, but there are probably better projectors out there. I honestly don't use it as much as I could, actually, but that's my fault for not buying a screen and not setting it up after we moved to Cincinnati.

My friend borrowed it for a birthday party for his teenage daughter, and they loved it, which inspired me to take it back and have my own party.

Just saw it. Very good

Just saw it. Very good action movie. Aaron Eckhart (sp?) doesn't get enough credit for a nice performance. Ledger's performance isn't going to make you forget Raging bull, but he is definitely fun to watch as well.

No plot flaws that jumped out at me, some nice choices by Nolan.

A caveat: This is the first movie we've gone to since my wife was 8 months pregnant, so it's possible I'd be writing just as positively about it if it was called Police Academy 11: Midgets on Patrol. So, take it for what it's worth, I guess.

Batman ROCKS!!!

Finally saw it. It's Saturday and my loving wife offered to watch the kids while I went to see the movie (though she might not have if she had known how long it was...) Anyway, good follow-up to Batman Begins. The lack of obvious comic book charm might turn off some people, but so far I think Nolan's more lifelike approach to the franchise works. I'm not so sure that Heath Ledger's performance, though great, is quite Oscar-caliber. Golden Globe nomination? Mayyyybe. But I'd have to say that Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent was just about my favorite part of the movie, especially in the 2nd half. I don't want to spoil anything, but it does become pretty obvious why Eckhart's character wasn't given more promotion and hype. It's a surprise - and a pleasant one at that. Well, "pleasant" is probably the wrong word...

Bottom line: **** Check it out!

FINALY!

At last I had a day off to see a matinee of "The Dark Knight." I thought it was a mushroom cloud laying colossus. An armor plated juggernaut destroying all that is and will be. It should win, “The Best Most Awesome Move Ever Award.”

Be Seeing You.
