My daughter has already reached the phase of asking "but, WHY???" over and over again and it's driving me CRAAAAZY!

Do you guys answer? Or do you just say "BECAUSE".

Ticktock, have patience man! We are going on two years of the why and how comes and it doesn't seem to be getting any better! The more he comprehends in life the more he asks, I guess inquiring minds just want to know. The first 18 months or so, I would explain everything and all would be 10 4, then soon after my answer would bring on “Why” followed by “Why” again. I have ended up saying "because I'm the dad and I said so!" My patience has been running pretty thin lately from toddler warfare I'm sorry to say, as you might have guessed from some of my previous posts. I have avoided using "Because" or "Just because" since it seems like a cop out of an answer and it just doesn’t answer anything plus I don’t want it used on me when its time for questioning.
Remember we are setting an example and what you draw on and use today will be used back on you someday. This is a good question for the Dr. Phil types!

I do give the BECAUSE answer

I do give the BECAUSE answer after several times of the same question. When I am not so snappy, I'll give the old "Tell me why you think it is..." response

One technique

One technique that I have found useful on other peoples children is simple and kind of funny. When they start down the whole why road, I usually tell them that I am not allowed to tell them because it is a secret. Frustrating for them sometimes, but after a while they usually get the point. As I said I have only tried this on other peoples children, y own son hasent reached that stage yet, but it might just help you with your sanity for five more minutes

I like that

I am going to try that tomorrow, and I know that I will have the chance becuase my kids are still doing that. Currenty, I vary between real answers, made-up answers, "because", and just plain ignoring them. "I can't tell you because it's a secret" is going to be a refreshing change.... for me at least. : )
