A new and improved live chat feature has been added to the site. Click on the "live chat" item in the top menu to access it (you'll need to be logged in to see it). If you'd like to find times when a group of people might be available to chat, post comments here and see what you can organize amongst yourselves. Give it a try if you're interested and we'll see how it goes. If you'd like to organize a regularly scheduled event or something similar, speak up and we'll see what we can do to organize it.

I think live chat would be awesome but I understand how it would be hard for everyone to drop everything and sit by their computers and chat.
Maybe you could bring it back closer to the convention? It might make it easier for people to find answers and make plans.

Well, it's not really a problem to leave it, either. I'm just throwing some things out there to see what sticks. The live chat doesn't seem to be sticking, so I figured I'd eliminate it just to reduce clutter. I agree that it's hard for people to sit by a computer and chat, and there are usually better things to do with your limited free time. I thought that maybe the afternoon nap hours (something in the range of 1:00-4:00 CST) might be a time where it would actually be used.
Currently, it seems good only in theory, but not in reality. But, I'm still undecided. Any other thoughts, let me know. Maybe we'll tip the scale one way or another.
Where Is It?
I just came across this posting from this past summer. Where is the chat? Did it get dropped? If it was, can it be put back? I love chatting with people and wish there was a way to do so with the guys that are in here when I come in. To me, that would be a great way to connect and get to know some of the guys even better. Just my thoughts...anyone else think that?

Didn't get used
It was there it for a while, but it didn't get used at all so I removed it so that the space and server resources could be used for other things. I think the problem is that a lot of guys drop in for a couple of minutes in between whatever else is going on. Still, I'm willing to reconsider. If anyone has comments on this, go ahead and post them here...
I'd love to have it but
Like it has been stated we will use it but in a limited capacity during the day. But at night time when the wife and kid are asleep I can use it more regularly.

My Feelings
I love chatting on Yahoo Messenger but rarely get anyone from here to drop in and chat (in the time I've been a member here 4 dad's from the group have talked to me on chat -- and I initiated all 4 chats). I would love to be able to just say hi and spend time chatting with the dads in here. Although I wouldn't be on it all day, I would use it when I was on-line.
