You should go to the stay at home dad convention.  That doesn’t sound very convincing then.  Ok the, let’s try to do the whole Moses coming down from the mountain top then.

YOU SHOULD GO TO THE CONVENTION AND LEARN HOW TO BE A BETTER FATHER.  GO, YOUNG GENTLEMEN, GO AND BE EDUCATED!

Much better.

Registration is now open for the 16th annual stay at home dad convention.  Just click here to begin your registration.

Now it occurs to me that a convention can be a very abstract idea.  There are a lot of conventions for lots of different things.  I would bet that there is even a convention for Xena Warrior Princess.  Google it, tell me that I’m not right.

But this convention is ours.  Over the next several months we will have posts about people that have attended the convention in the past so every body can get a true idea of what happens, what’s offered and what it is like.

When I first became a stay at home dad I made two promises to myself.  The first is that I would never, under any circumstances, watch Oprah.  I have broken that promise.  Many times.  She’s good people.

The second is that I would attend the convention.  I have been lucky enough to do so and have gotten a ton out of it.  I have learned how to do a little girl’s hair, been educated about nutrition, and met guys that are in the same boat that I am.  Let’s be honest, sometimes you can only talk about certain things with guys that know what you are going through.  It’s tough to talk to another dude about feeling isolated when they go to work everyday and you stare out your window like some crazy old man doing the neighborhood watch while you check your baby monitor for other people’s cell phone conversations.

The convention this year will be held in Washington D.C on October 8th.  Registration is now open and is $75.  You will get 15 bucks off  is you registrar before August 22.  See, we are already saving  you money!

Visit the convention website here and I hope to see you there!
