The registration fee goes up to $135 on Aug. 1. The registration fee includes all convention programming, lunch on Friday and Saturday, Friday night Meet & Greet Social and the post-convention Saturday dinner.
Among the highlights at this year’s convention will be a keynote address by internationally recognized speaker Barbara Coloroso of Kids Are Worth It, a post-convention Saturday night dinner at LoDo staple Denver Chophouse & Brewery and a Thursday Dads’ Night Out sponsored by Denver Dads Group at the Colorado Rockies game on the new Rooftop Party Deck at Coors Field. All this falls into the second straight year of two-day convention programming with sessions on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, a Meet & Greet Friday night and a service project to kick things off on Thursday afternoon.
The 19th Annual At-Home Dads Convention will once again be on the Auraria Campus at the edge of downtown Denver. This year, the entire programming will be held at our host hotel, the SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown at Metro State. The SpringHill Suites offers an excellent location to much of what downtown Denver has to offer and is within walking distance to most attractions, including the 16th Street Mall, Larimer Square and LoDo, where the Coors Field and the Denver Chophouse is located.
Convention events will begin Thursday with a service project sponsored by Huggies® from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Then, there will be Dads’ Night Out at the 6:40 p.m. Rockies game when they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The night’s festivities will be located on Coors Field’s new Rooftop area, a standing room only social setting where dads can take in the action if they want or simply relax with others who made the trip in a laid back environment. Denver Dads Group will cover the price of admission.
Official programming of the 19th Annual At-Home Dads Convention Delivered by Huggies® will begin with registration and lunch at noon on Friday, Sept. 19, at the SpringHill Suites. Sessions begin with a presentation from a popular 2013 speaker, Alberto Pellicer of the Denver Public Library. There will also be a discussion panel with wives of stay-at-home dads and an important presentation on children’s car safety sponsored by Britax.
Following Friday’s sessions will be a Meet & Greet Social sponsored by Dads Behaving DADLY, the book by the National At-Home Dad Network’s President Al Watts and 6-time parenting author Hogan Hilling. The Meet & Greet will be held at 6:30 at the Restaurant Lab at HLC on the grounds of the SpringHill Suites. There, dads will get to socialize and enjoy drinks and appetizers.
On Saturday morning, the convention will renew at 9 a.m. with the keynote presentation by Barbara Coloroso. The author and speaker has tackled a range of childhood and parenting topics, as well as teaching and non-conflict resolution. She has served as an educational consultant and has been a classroom teacher, university instructor and is also the author of five international best-selling books.
After Coloroso’s presentation and the National At-Home Dad Network’s annual meeting, things will get WILD with a lunch presented by Animal Jam.
The afternoon will be filled with breakout sessions, including the always popular age-based forums, a discussion on emergency preparedness, gadgets that interest dads, blogging, home schooling and much more.
Once the sessions of the 19th Annual At-Home Dads Convention Delivered by Huggies® conclude, attendees will convene at the Denver Chophouse for the Saturday night dinner to enjoy food and beverages and more time with new friends. On Sunday morning the convention concludes with an informal Breakfast with the National At-Home Network Board in the lobby of the SpringHill Suites.
The Annual At-Home Dads Convention is a production of the National At-Home Dad Network, a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides support, education and advocacy for fathers who are the primary caregivers of their children.
