When a traumatic brain injury waylaid James, it made us all consider what could happen when unexpected physical injury or debilitating sickness strikes an at-home dad.
The National At-Home Dad Network recognized the need of his family and made a donation to help with their expenses. In March of 2023 The National At-Home Dad Network Board of Directors voted to establish a fund to offer similar assistance to the families of our community members who have suffered a severe physical injury or sickness.
During HomeDadCon there is a sponsored 5k event to help raise money and awareness of The Fathers Overcoming Adversity Fund. There is a in person, virtual and sponsor a runner option.
This fund will be sustained through donations and fundraising. Requests for assistance can be made to the organization. All decisions for disbursements will require a vote of approval from the board of directors with a ⅔ majority required.
